Sugar Plum Fairies and The Replacements

Wolverine and I like to wait till around mid-December to get into the spirit of the holidays. Whatever that means. The Kid’s birthday takes over the first week of the month, and  it’s just become our ritual to wait a little bit. Lest our exposure to the holidays be too long and our cynicism be portrayed to the Kid. Not cynicism about the winter holidays, or even spending excessive amounts of money. Since we don’t really have  excessive amounts of money, that’s not a problem. I think our cynicism is along the lines of Charlie Brown’s melancholy. We like a little meaningfulness as we ponder the long, dark days of winter.

The Kid, with our tree (in progress).
